This Economy-A Horror Story Or A Chance For Growth?

I was listening to NPR this morning and there was yet another horror story about the economy. I find it very frustrating that all the news is about how bad things are-it just makes things worse! Did you ever watch a scary movie/tv show before bed and then have trouble sleeping because every little sound scared the bejeezes (sp?) out of you? Well-that is what is happening as a country right now. We are all jumping at every little noise. It’s just the cat for goodness sake!
I want to know who is thriving in this economy? What careers are still hot and going to be hot in the present environment and in the next 5 years? I want to know what someone with a college degree should be doing to improve their career potential and what someone without one should do. Our economy is struggling but also changing.
A lot of the companies and industries that have been effected were dying anyway. We knew that! So where is the future? What are the hot fields, skills, and industries? Let’s look at this as an opportunity to grow as a country and an economy. Maybe a credit based economy isn’t a good idea? Hello! It sure isn’t for my home finances! I’m not an economist but it does not take a PhD from Wharton to see why some of these businesses are failing. Bad business practices!
My business is doing fine. If it’s not it’s because I’m not doing a good enough job. I’m not saying that there are not many people that are legitimately affected (effected?) by this economy – so let’s find proactive solutions for them and quit our whining!
